Rock the Patch: Four bands left standing to battle at 89 North

Rock the Patch 2016

Sixteen bands faced off over the course of two weeks in various bars and restaurants in Patchogue Village.

Four bands are left standing.

Those remaining acts (list below) will now compete in the final round of the first-ever Rock the Patch battle of the bands contest Thursday, June 2, at 89 North Music Venue.

The winner will perform on the Blue Point Brewery Stage at the season’s first Alive After Five installment, on July 7.

“Our semifinals all ran without a hitch and were very well received. There were great crowds each night,” said David Kennedy, executive director of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, which founded and runs Alive After Five and helped organize the band battle.

Rock the Patch — while showcasing local talent — also functions as a fundraiser for chief organizer Patchogue-Medford Youth & Community Service, which offers free camps, classes, after-school activities and more for area youth.

About 30 bands play at the summer’s four Alive After Five events each year.
